Dr Drew Masters graduated from Murdoch University in 1987 and spent the next 3 years working in mixed animal practices in the Kimberley, southern Victoria and south west WA, and in companion animal practices in Perth’s golden triangle.
He left Australia for a planned six-month stint in Africa and Europe, and returned 8 years later, having experienced a wide variety of practices throughout the UK and Channel Islands.
Dr Drew also managed to learn sufficient Swedish to study in Stockholm and Uppsala in order to be accredited as a veterinarian in Sweden. He worked with companion animals in Stockholm for 2 years before returning to Perth with a gorgeous future-wife and a taste for salty liquorice and gravlax. His itinerant phase apparently complete, he and a colleague, Dr Chris Preau, started My Best Friend Veterinary Centre in Leederville in November 2000 where he practices to this day.
Dr Drew lives in Perth with his wife, two children, a cat named Kevin, and, because he wanted just one thing to do as they’re told, a Schnoodle named Kille. He’s still waiting….
Courtney originally from Manchester in the UK, she moved to Perth in 2017 and made the switch from Recruitment to my role as an RVN in 2018. Courtney started working at My Best Friend Veterinary Centre soon after qualifying.
It’s never a dull day in the clinic, one of the reasons she loves working in GP is the variety of cases the clinic sees, from routine vaccination appointments to emergency cesarean sections, interesting medicine cases and specialist orthopaedic surgeries, we see it all! Patient care is at the top of our list and our goal is to make vet visits as stress free as possible, using lots of food rewards, calming pheromones and gentle handling.
Courtney is especially interested in animal behaviour and feline medicine. Having two kitties of her own who require medication, she feels she can relate to her clients who are experiencing the same anxieties and offer tips and tricks she's found helpful herself.
Emily joined our team shortly after graduating as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2020. Emily has always had a passion for animals and loves caring for her 12 chickens, 2 cats and 2 dogs. Her enthusiasm and hard work ethic make her an invaluable team member.
She likes to spend time in theatre assisting with anaesthesia and post operative care. Her gentle nature makes her a wonderful carer for the sensitive family members.
